Coventry City defender Jordan Clarke has said that he is so happy not to have to go to Sixfields any more and cannot wait to be back at the Ricoh Arena.
Clarke told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “I’m going to be honest, it wasn’t nice going to Sixfields.
“I have always been very open and said I didn’t like going there. However, it’s work at the end of the day and that’s where we had to play our football.
“But me personally, I cannot wait to drive the ten or so minutes to the Ricoh rather than 45 that we had to do for Northampton.
“I can’t wait to be back in and around that pitch because we get a lot more fans; you know the pitch, you know the stadium, you know what you’re getting from the changing room and it’s just a much better feel for the lads.
“I used to car share with Callum Wilson, Cyrus Christie and Conor Thomas which made the journey better but probably the worse thing was playing in front of so few fans.
“I don’t blame them and I know I wouldn’t have travelled if I was one of them. But I’m glad we’re back now so more can turn out week in and week out.
“We used to get about 1,500 fans at Sixfields, sometimes including the away fans, and it felt like a pre-season game or Under-21s game, which is never good for a first-team fixture.
“You just had to get on with it and do your job, but playing in front of 20,000-plus against Gillingham is going to be great and will give the lads that extra boost.”
