A behind closed doors Reserve game at the Ryton training ground was played for the benefit of Sammy Clingan, Nathan Cameron and Roy O'Donovan yesterday so manager Aidy Boothroyd could check on their fitness and form.
Coventry City lost the game against Cheltenham 2-0, but the result was not the important issue, that was to see if Northern Ireland international has recovered from injury and to see if he is ready for consideration for Sunday's televised game at QPR.
Boothroyd confirmed to the CT: "It was a game we put on for Sammy, Nathan Cameron and Roy O'Donovan and a lot of the Academy kids, but mainly to get 90 minutes into Sammy to make sure he's available for Sunday's game at QPR."
"He did all right, he hit the bar and forced the keeper into a really good save and was our best player, so he's given me food for thought for the weekend. Marlon King didn't play but he has done enough training recently and he's available to us again after his three match suspension."
