Bicycle worker Wille Stanley, who founded Singers FC, was remembered yesterday on the 130th anniversary of the founding of the club.
Historian Lionel Bird organised a gathering at London Road cemetery and told the Coventry Telegraph: “It was extremely important to hold this event, which was the only event on the actual day of the anniversary.
“Considering what is going on at the football club at the moment, it is quite poignant that we should remember what Willie Stanley actually did.”
