The Board of Coventry City have published the following statement in the programme for the Sky Blues game against AFC Wimbledon.

The statement in the programme reads as follows:

"The Board would like to address recent reports that Coventry City FC have "banned" the local newspaper from the club.

"Whilst, the Club are disappointed that for several months the Coventry Telegraph has not responded to numerous polite requests to accurately report the club's point of view, we recognise that, of course, the newspaper are entitled to their own opinion.

"We simply ask that the Coventry Telegraph reports accurately and fairly. To be clear, we have not cut off reporting by the paper, nor have we restricted matchday access.

"The club will continue to welcome journalists from the local paper to all Coventry City FC games and will treat the Telegraph respectfully, just as we treat all external news outlets.

"Importantly, the club needs to direct as much fan and readership traffic to our own website as is possible. Other media outlets, as they have been doing previously, can then freely follow up with their own reporting."
