Boothroyd, is the third permanent manager City have had since Micky Adams was sacked three years ago and he told the CT: "It's a sad indictment of our game in general that there are so many comings and goings.
"Bringing in a new manager doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get what you need as a club, because so many things are out of his control.
"If Chairman, Directors and owners were more rigourous in their approach to recruiting managers perhaps we wouldn't get through so many.
"You tend to find that the best practice comes from the clubs who stay with their manager the longest."
