Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has apologised to the 1560 City supporters who went to Blackpool on Saturday.

Many walked out long before the end of the 3-0 defeat and Coleman said to the CT: "I'd have left myself if I could have got away with it. "We brought some good support here and we've let them down because we were very, very disappointing.

"We were poor going forward, we never got near them in midfield and at times we were at sixes and sevens at the back.

"It's hard to put your finger on exactly what went wrong, but I've got to take responsibility because we wanted to try something different.

"I changed the shape, asked them to play in a certain way and it never worked.

"In this division if you win enough second balls and tackles it's amazing what you can get out of it.

"I asked them to pass the ball, but we got mixed up with being frivolous in possession, passing in the wrong areas.

"We were trying to push the full-backs on, take the game to Blackpool, but we weren't on the scene really.

"We got nervous, then we got disjointed and in the second half we were abysmal - we're lucky it wasn't more than 3-0."
