Mr Coleman has until 6pm next Wednesday to admit or deny the charge before a regulatory commission hears the case on or before February 9.
"I have been waiting for it to come through and I am looking forward to it," said Chris Coleman who is already on a FA warning after comments about the referee during City's 2-0 defeat against Chelsea last season.
"I haven't got anything to hide. "I know what I said and I may have used one or two words I shouldn't have done, but in the main all I was asking for was an explanation.
"Fair enough, I shouldn't have been on the pitch but let's see what the explanation is.
"If I am going to get punished I'll take my medicine, but what I want is to see what they say and why that time was played.
"That's all I am looking for, because it is not 30 seconds over the four minutes shown, we are talking about more than three minutes over the time.
"There were no substitutions, no injuries, no nothing, so it will be interesting."
