Coventry City manager Chris Coleman is determined to bring in some new players to boost the squad in the January transfer window.

City now have one of the smallest squad's in the division and one which has been ravaged by injury. Although Leon McKenzie and Stephen Wright could be back for Saturday's game against Ipswich, the City boss is without Isaac Osbourne and Scott Dann and could face losing Michael Mifsud, Jay Tabb and Michael Doyle if they find themselves new clubs as well as Elliott Ward if he fancies a move to West Brom or Norwich.

Said Coleman, who is trying to bring in James McPake from Livingston to Virgin Media Sport: "Until we have got a squad of players in place we can`t progress.

"We are trying to build after staying up by the skin of our teeth last season, but we have had a lot of injuries and at the moment we are huffing and puffing.

"We could do with a couple of new faces to balance the team up. We have said from day one that we want to strengthen in every transfer window, and if we don`t do it in January it won`t be for the want of trying.

"It is hard for the players who are already here because they know there are going to be changes but they have got to do their best and hopefully come along with us for the ride."
