Coventry City manager Chris Coleman was happy with his side's performance during the 1-1 draw at Wrexham.

Normally, City are playing some cannon fodder lowly foreign side but with the recession meaning that tour operators finding it hard to get sponsors and make ends meet, the Sky Blues started their pre-season with a trip to Conference side Wrexham.

Speaking to the club website, Chris Coleman said: "You've got to give full credit to Wrexham. They played well and moved the ball around the park well. They have done very well since Dean Saunders took over and we knew it would be tough.

"The players have trained hard all week because we knew how tough it was going to be. It's not about the result, but you always want to win - we even trained yesterday and we rarely train the day before a game. I'm pleased though because but it's been a good fitness exercise and a good work out.

"We're not ready for the new season yet obviously, and in terms of personnel we need to do a little bit of this and that. But we'll get there.

"Every other club is the same at this time - the window is open and there will be coming and goings. We need to add to our squad but we're not quite there yet."
