Coventry City manager Chris Coleman may have seven substitutes to choose from in Carling Cup matches next season under new proposals to be ratified by The Football League.
When the new Premier League season starts in August, managers will be able to name seven substitutes and the Football League plan to do the same but this season only for Carling Cup matches as a trial.
This will be ratified at the forthcoming Football League AGM which the Sky Blues will attend. Should the proposal be approved, the decision will be announced and the dates for Carling Cup matches will also be announced.
