Coleman was appointed manager of the Sky Blues in February 2008 after being at Real Sociedad and Fulham, where he guided the West London side to their highest ever finish in the Premier League.
"I think Chris Coleman is more acclimatised to the Championship now," said Mr Ranson to the CT.
"He spent a lot of his early managerial years in the top flight but he knows what it takes to get out of this league now and he won't be fazed by going to Scunthorpe and Peterborough who will both be coming up on a massive high, as opposed to Middlesbrough and Newcastle who are on a massive downer."
One thing, the Sky Blues will have to do is to win more matches if they are promoted. The likes of Newcastle Utd, Middlesbrough, West Brom, Sheffield United, Ipswich, Palace, Cardiff, Swansea, Reading, Preston, Derby, Forest, QPR and Bristol City will all fancy their chances of automatic promotion or a play off spot and it is going to take City getting as many points as possible off those sides if they are to make the promised land or give us a first top six finish in forty years.
