Despite losing 1-0 at West Brom last nigh, City manager Chris Coleman has praised his players.
The defeat saw Coventry drop a place to 12th and left them 8 points from Cardiff who currently occupy the last play off place.
Coleman thought his side deserved at least a point from the encounter and bemoaned the fact that his side has only picked up two points in their last four games.
Speaking about the game Coleman said, “They’re are a top-quality side, yet in the second half it was all us. We were the side pushing forward and I honestly think that if we’d managed to get one goal we’d have got a second because the momentum was definitely with us."
“We played very, very well and certainly deserved at least a point. They were hanging on at the end and Clinton Morrison was an inch away from getting an equaliser in stoppage time. West Brom have had an extra day’s rest than us which they don’t need."
"Our fitness levels were excellent, we got stronger as the game wore on. In the last three games we’ve taken on Cardiff, Leicester and West Brom which is a schedule that would test Newcastle or anybody else and I think we’re very unlucky that we’ve only got a point to show for it."
“Tonight we’ve taken on one of the best teams in the league in their own back yard and pushed them all the way. They never looked comfortable in the second half so I’ve got to be pleased with that. All the danger was coming from us but unfortunately it was one of those nights when we were never quite able to get a clean chance in front of goal, the ball was always flashing across the line or just skimming somebody’s boot."
“The play offs were always going to be difficult for us, but while there’s a glimmer of a chance of making it we’ll keep battling on because it would be such a big thing for us. but we’ve said all along that if we can’t finish sixth we want to finish seventh, and if we can’t finish seventh we want to finish eighth. There’s still a lot of points to play for and on this performance we are due some.”
