Clinton Morrison has revealed that he had a chance to join Wolves and City also had a chance to sign former midfielder Lee Carsley.

Speaking to the Sunday Mercury's Andy Parker,Morrison said: "Wolves were interested but after meeting Chris Coleman my head wasn't going to be turned anywhere else.

"I could have gone to Wolves but after speaking to Chris I fancied going to Coventry. "I thought that Coventry had the ability to go on and do some good things, that was my mind made up basically.

"Mick McCarthy is a very good manager, and I'm not going to lie, it was a difficult decision. I just want to play but I didn't know if I would every week at Wolves.

"I've got a chance to play most weeks at Coventry and I just want to do well."I know you've got to fight for you position wherever you go but the manager here was optimistic about taking this club forward.

"At one stage I thought the deal to go to Coventry was dead, then I thought that maybe I would be going to Wolves but Chris did well along with the top man at the club Ray Ranson and that's why in the end I showed my appreciation by signing here."

"The factor was that the manager here got me before I went and spoke to Mick. "Chris took the time to meet me and show me the club's plans, I was really impressed by that."

Former Sky Blue Lee Carsley was another factor in the 36 year old moving to Cov and Morrison said.: "I only know Damien Johnson at Blues now but I knew Lee Carsley who I worked with for Ireland and he is another one who told me to come to Coventry. "He said it's a good club and if he hadn't signed for Birmingham then he probably would have come here as well.

"I know Julian Gray from my days at Birmingham plus I knew a lot of the lads for Crystal Palace who are at Coventry so that helped my decision because I was able to fit in straight away."
