Coleman Wants His Chance To Speak About Refs

Coventry City manager Chris Coleman has said that he wants a personal hearing at the FA following being levied with a charge of improper conduct and/or bringing the game into disrepute.

"I am not surprised that I have been charged," said Coleman to the CT. "Maybe one or two of my comments after the game were in the heat of the moment, so I can understand that they would want to speak to me. I expected it.

"But I want to speak to them as well because not all my comments were wrong and I won't go back on them.

"We are never going to change things if we don't speak up. Sometimes we say too much as managers - all of us - but if we don't address issues then how are referees supposed to get better?

"They won't improve by us protecting them or shying away from whatever problems we are faced with.

"Sometimes we say too much and maybe I have done it again but I will glady go and speak to the FA and flag up what I think is right and wrong. I am not against referees at all. I believe I would be helping them."

The FA took exception to Coleman's use of the word "smug" in his after match comments. They were comments repeated made by many thousands who attended the game who felt that the referee's behaviour could not be deemed as being completely neutral.

If required to do so, Covsupport News Service will be happy to provide a report to this effect.
