WHO ARE THEY?
Notts County were formed in November 1862 and are the oldest football club in the world. They started off as Notts Football Club playing friendlies from 1864 until 1888, playing matches at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground amongst other venues before moving to Meadow Lane in 1910.

They first competed in the FA Cup in 1877 and were original members of the Football League. In 1888,Notts had their best ever season in top flight football finished third and being FA Cup Final runners-up.

Like the Sky Blues,The Magpies have won the FA Cup only once. Notts victory came at Goodison in 1894 when they beat Bolton 4-1.

County were used to getting crowds of between 30,000 and 40,000 during the days when they fielded Tommy Lawton. Former Sky Blue Brian Kilcline was their first ever played to be capped for England U21 although in their early days, Notts had eight England internationals in their side.

After promotion to the top flight in 1981,they were relegated three seasons later but game back for a season in 1991/92 only to be relegated again and have not returned since. Having been relegated when former Coventry City Reserve team boss Gary Mills was in charge, County now play in League Two.

THE LAST TIME
We've never met Notts County in the League Cup but have played them on 31 previous occasions in competitive matches.

The last league games were in 1991/92 and saw both sides win their home game 1-0. City have won on nine occasions including twice at Meadow Lane with six draws.

The last meeting between the two sides was a pre-season friendly at Meadow Lane on Sunday July 23rd 2006. The Sky Blues won 2-0 with goals from Stern John and Gary McSheffrey in front of 1602 spectators.

Notts County were regular visitors to Ryton last season for Reserve Team friendlies.

TEAM NEWS
David McNamee could be back for Iain Dowie's side. Kevin Thornton is out for 6-8 weeks with an ankle injury whilst Arjan De Zeeuw and Ellerty Cairo are still injured. Iain Dowie is likely to rest some players and play others who did not feature in the win at Barnsley

Steve Thompson is likely to include most of the players that played in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Grimsby Town.

The referee is Mr R.Lee. His assistants are Ollie Langford and M.Dexter. Mr G.R.Russell is the fourth official. This will be Mr Lee's first game at the Arena.

HOW TO GET THERE
By car: Leave the M6 at junction 3. Take the A4 44 towards the City centre and at the first island go left and you will see the Ricoh Arena on your right.
 
By rail: For all train information call National Rail Enquiries on: 08457 48 49 50, but be warned Coventry station is a £10+ taxi ride away. Take the 27 bus from the train station get off at Pool Meadow bus station and catch the 4 or 5 service. Or go out of doors and over the road by Sainsburys and get the 20, getting off the by Tescos.

Parking: Car parking is extremely restricted around the ground.

AWAY SUPPORTERS PARKING
Car parking around the Ricoh Arena is strictly limited.
However, there is a designated away supporters car park, situated around five minutes walk away from the ground. The car park is secure and cost is £5 - but spaces are limited to just 100.

Directions: M6 to junction 3. Take 3rd exit if coming from north or 1st exit if traveling from the south. At the 2nd roundabout, take the 2nd exit, under the railway bridge, through the first set of traffic lights, and pass the pedestrian lights. At the next set of lights, turn right into Blackburn Road and the car park is at the top of the road.

Some car satellite navigation systems have not been updated to show Coventry City FC as playing at the Ricoh Arena. Those visiting the ground for the first time are advised to enter "Phoenix Way" and the post code "CV6 6GE" instead.
