Coventry City manager Chris Coleman feels that consistency is breeding confidence amongst his players.
City have lost just once in seven matches and the Sky Blues boss said to the CT: “We go into games expecting to get a result and we have been consistent in our performances and results and that gives you a bit of confidence.
“The back four are defending very, very well collectively and they have got Keiren Westwood behind them, who is the best at our level, so when we are attacking we know that, if it breaks down then, we are still rock solid at the back.”
With defence helping the attack, Coleman added: “We are getting further up the pitch at the minute and getting in behind a lot.
“Carl Baker was getting us up the pitch at Palace and Michael McIndoe showed great energy, and in the second half Aron Gunnarsson got through in a one v one and I haven’t seen one of our midfielders getting past our strikers for a while.
“But if we have got that base at the back with four rock-solid defenders, that gives us a bit more confidence going forward when we think we are always going to score a goal.
“So they have done well and there is a grittiness about them. They don’t want to concede goals and we have had clean sheets of late and that has given them confidence.
“They are doing the horrible little jobs first – the nuts and bolts – and we are building off that and that’s why we are in the position we are.
