Coventry Copsewood came from behind to win the Coventry Telegraph Cup with a 2-1 victory in the final at the Ricoh Arena.

There might be three divisions between Copsewood from the Midland Combination and Whitnash Town from the Coventry Alliance Premier Division but there was history between the two sides with Whitnash having beaten Copses in a Coventry Charity Cup Semi-Final in March.

Whitnash, who had lifted the Coventry Charity Cup seven days ago, ‎ again, did not let the occasion get to them and worked hard, challenging for every ball in the opening exchanges.

The first real chance came for Copsewood in the fifteenth minute when Martin Crawford thumped Stacey's left hand‎ post and was followed six minutes later by a great tackle from Jack Taylor on Danny Fraser.

Whitnash Boss Marc Friend was forced into a 23rd minute change when Ross Briscoe limped off and watched on as a thirty yard free kick from Craig Civzellis went over the bar.

‎On the half hour mark, Ryan Billington got to a loose ball after Scott Furlong had come to the edge of his area and delivered a neat twenty yard chip that Lee Hunt headed away from the goal-line and danger.

Furlong got down to a cross-field shot on his left before Craig Watkin sent a free kick high into the stand.

Then in the 35th minute, Billington stormed down the left, cut inside and played the ball back for Luke Cole to bury in the back of Furlong's net.

Four minutes later and Whitnash attacked in numbers winning a corner and Crawford forced a corner at the other end‎.

Copsewood came out for the second half fired up. Ritson headed into the side netting from an Adam Civzelis cross and seven minutes into the second half, Copsewood drew level with a stunning goal thanks to Danny Fraser getting the ball on the left ‎and unleashing a twenty five yarder which flew into the net.

Copsewood forced two corners but‎ Whitnash responded with Craig Watkin smashing a twenty yard 57th minute free kick against Furlong's left hand post.

As the game started to get scrappy and both sides made changes, Howard Forinton flicked wide when through in the 68th minute whilst Copsewood countered with a free kick that ended up in the arms of Neil Stacey in the Whitnash goal.

Tom Murphy headed over his bar to concede a 78th minute corner and four minutes later, a Forinton cross fell for the incoming Wilkinson to get in a header which was deflected over for another corner.

Stacey caught a free kick before needing treatment after diving in at the feet of Crawford but was back to catch an 88th minute corner.

Into the last minute and Crawford won a corner. The ball was delivered deep and in amongst a melee of players there was Tom Murphy to bundle the ball into the net.

Whitnash went for broke and Josh Cole got through but could only fire straight at Furlong and although the Allard Way based side were reduced to ten men for the final few minutes of stoppage time, when Peta Jon Gordon was sent off, Copsewood had come back to win the Coventry Telegraph Cup.
