Away to Huddersfield Town in the second leg, the Tykes pulled the aggregate score back to 2-2 before Cov kid Danny Nardiello, son of former Sky Blue Donato scored in the 78th minute to give Barnsley a 3-1 victory.
Former Sky Blue reserve teamer Martin Devaney was also in the Barnsley side.
