Coventry City stay 21st in the League One table after their 3-1 defeat at Southend United.
City have 19 points and are only one point ahead of third from bottom Oldham who drew 1-1 at Oxford, second from bottom Chesterfield who lost 5-2 at sixth placed Peterborough and bottom side Shrewsbury who won 1-0 at Millwall.
Coventry are a point behind Bury who lost 4-2 at Bristol Rovers but could go out of the bottom four if they beat Sheffield United on Thursday night. The Blades remain second in the table after a 4-0 win over Swindon Town and are three points behind leaders Scunthorpe who lost 3-2 at fifth placed Rochdale.
Bolton are third with Bradford City who drew 0-0 with Charlton in fourth.
Elsewhere, MK Dons beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0, Fleetwood beat Walsall 2-1, and Northampton won 3-2 at Port Vale.
