Coventry Kid Doing His Bit To Help Team Sky

Last updated : 30 June 2012 By Kev Monks

Coventry's links to the world of cycling may have decreased since the early part of the 1900's but one Coventry kid is playing in role in helping Team Sky in their bid to win the Tour De France.

Martin Ayres went to junior school with Marcus Hall and after years of watching City at Highfield Road, found the Ricoh Arena too expensive for him and his son and is now a confirmed Coventry Blaze season ticket holder.

Ayres has been working for Jaquar Cars in Coventry for the last thirteen years after starting out as a mechanic at a garage. He is in charge of making sure the Jaquar cars which carry the Team Sky officials on the route of races such as the Tour De France and the Giro D'Italia and which have the CV postcode on them, are in tip top condition.

Ayres told Covsupport News Service before the start of the Tour De France that he was proud to be a tiny part of the Sky team which had a team spirit the like of which he had never seen.

Martin is blogging during the Tour De France and you can read his comments by clicking on http://www.teamsky.com/article/0,27290,25884_7851873,00.html
