Coventry City have made their third signing of the week when they signed 24 year old Irish Roy O'Donovan from Sunderland. He will join the Sky Blues om July 1st.
O'Donovan will sign a three year deal after returning to Coventry City where he attended the club academy before leaving to pursue his career in his native Ireland. At Cork City he scored 31 goals in 74 appearances before being signed by Roy Keene at Sunderland.
However he spent much of his time on loan, only making 17 appearances for the Black Cats. On loan to Hartlepool he hit the back of the net 9 times in 15 appearances.
City boss Boothroyd said, "As soon as I arrived, I saw that we needed competition for places in attack and Roy is champing at the bit to be a success here. His opportunities at Sunderland were restricted but there is no doubting he can mark his mark on the Championship.
"He follows Gary McSheffrey by returning to club he was at during his youth, and we're steadily building the foundation of a strong, driven squad."
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce said, "Roy is a fantastic lad and a great professional; we wish him all the very best in his future career."
