Liverpool U23's manager Neil Critchley feels that the tournament next weekend at Nuneaton will be a good test for his players.
Liverpool face Coventry City and PSV Eindhoven in the six team tournament at Liberty Way on Saturday July 29th and Sunday July 30th and speaking about the tournament, Critchley is quoted as saying: “The tournament has come at the perfect stage of our pre-season preparations.
With the standard of opposition that we will face, it is ideal for us and ticks a lot of boxes.
“We have two tough games; it will be good for our youngsters to be able to pit their wits against what will be predominantly a Coventry City first-team and then there will be the challenge that PSV will present as they always field high-quality sides at any level.
“It will be good for us and we’re ready for it. The fact that it’s also a tournament scenario adds that extra something to it and it will stand us in good stead for the start of our season, which comes ten days after the tournament.
“Hopefully it will be well supported with a good turn-out of fans over the two days. There is sure to be some exciting talent on show and some entertaining games as a result.”
Coventry City play Liverpool U23's on Saturday and the hosts Nuneaton Town on Sunday at 5.45pm.
