Martin Cranie, who rejected the offer of an extended deal with Coventry City, has joined Championship side Barnsley on a one year deal.
The 25 year old central defender joined Coventry in 2009 from Portsmouth, but spent much of his Pompey time on loan at Charlton Athletic.
Following his rejection of the Sky Blues offer, he was available on a free transfer. Cranie had been on trial at Leeds United, but he opted to sign for Yorkshire rivals barnsley instead.
