Liverpool U23's boss Neil Critchley felt that the 0-0 draw against Coventry City's first team in the Liverpool tournament was a great experience for his players.
"Considering we were up against a Football League side who are one week away from starting their season, there were a lot of positives for us to take,'' Critchley said to Liverpool's club website.
"We will look to be better in the final third because we didn't threaten their goal enough but we defended well.
"It was a great experience for our boys because they don't get the chance to play against senior players like this too often, so it was a step up but they handled themselves well."
