Coventry City Manager Steven Pressley feels that cup competitions can enhance a player's reputation.
Speaking at the club's pre-game press conference ahead of tonight's trip to Leyton Orient, the City boss said to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole: "I know some managers like to use these games to give their youngsters a run-out but I’ve already got them in the first team!
“But my intention is always to win whatever game we are playing and we’ll got down there in that determined fashion.
“These cup competitions can enhance players’ reputations, give them a great platform – look what happened with Bradford last year and what it did to that city. Obviously that type of scenario doesn’t happen too often, but we’ll have a real go at this competition.
“As I’ve said from the start, I want to play an exciting brand of football, football to get supporters off their seats.
“Saturday was bitterly disappointing and we obviously need to tighten up a few things, but if you look at the statistics we dominated the game, got in a lot of crosses, created far more chances.
“A lot of the things we’ve been working on were very evident in our performance and if we show that energy and positivity we’ll certainly get results.”
