Former Coventry City loanee Danny Ward's whose deal eventually put the Sky Blues under a transfer embargo, which has still to be officially announced as being lifted, scored tonight for Huddersfield Town in the League One Play-Off Semi-Final.
Huddersfield, who fielded former City loanee Peter Clarke, took the lead through Lee Peltier on 25.40 before the Cherries levelled through Steve Lovell who scored past another former City loanee Ian Bennett.
Then just before the break, Danny Ward, who made four appearances for City before getting a hernia injury and returning to his parent club and appeared in last season's League One Play-Offs with Swindon Town, scored with a low drive to put the Terriers back in front.
In the second half, Bournemouth levelled in the 62nd minute through Steve Lovell who scored from close range.
The match went into extra time and it was The Cherries who took the lead for the first time in the match when Danny ings headed home in the 103rd minute.
Their lead only lasted three minutes as Anthony Kay headed in to level the game at 3-3.
Bournemouth had Jason Pearce sent off in the sixth minute of the second period of the extra time but there were no more goals and the game went to penalties.
Michael Symes took the first kick and scored. Novak for Huddersfield did the same. Liam Feeney had his spot kick saved by Ian Bennett and then Danny Ward stepped up to score and put Huddersfield 2-1 up.
Anton Robinson hit the bar and then Kevin Kilbaine scored to make it 3-1 to Huddersfield.
Sean Cooper had to score for Bournemouth and did so. Anthony Kay then stepped up and scored to send Huddersfield into the final with a 4-1 penalties victory.
