Central defender Calum Davenport is believed to be a £2m target for West Bromwich Albion manager Gary Megson.
The popular centre half had an excellent season last term and to lose a player of his calibre would be a body blow to the Sky Blues play-off hopes.
An equiry has already been made by Reading boss Steve Coppell who said "We do need more cover and it does make me nervous as we are vulnerable at
the back, especially at centre-back.
"I have had discussions concerning Calum Davenport, but he could be out of
the question as they want a fee for him."
