Former Coventry City defender Arjan De Zeeuw is now back in Holland.

The 38 year old centre half was released by Chris Coleman at the end of the season after making 19 appearances which were not enough for a second season deal to be activated.

Speaking to Wigan Today, the Dutchman appeared less than happy with his lack of first team outings under Chris Coleman saying: "I haven't played a game since February. I had one game for Coventry when Chris Coleman took over against West Brom. I got a kick in the game and had to go off, but it cleared up in 10 days.

"I didn't get a chance after that. I never spoke a bad word about the manager. He didn't treat me badly - it was just his decision not to play me. "These things happen. It wasn't how I wanted to finish my career in England.

"I shook hands with him at the end of the season and said 'thanks for not playing me!'. He just laughed and said it was his assistant (Steve Kean) who had made the decision."

De Zeeuw is looking for a new club in Holland and said: ""I still feel reasonably fit. I love football and I really don't want to give it up.

"I know there will come a time when I have to call it a day. But I honestly don't feel tired and want to play for another year. "Obviously if these clubs I'm speaking to say they'll be training five times a week and playing two games a week then I won't be able to do that."
