Coventry City midfielder Gary Deegan is hoping to put his injuries behind him and get back to playing regularly in the City first team.
When asked if his injury had affected his fitness and form, Deegan told the CT's Andy Turner: “I think it’s a bit of both.
“The injury has been a real pain in the backside but I have been working hard in training.
“The manager picks the team and you have got to respect that and whenever I get my chance I will try to do my bit for the team.
“There have been times I’ve knocked on the manager’s door because I want to be playing every week and he knows that but it is down to me to make a statement and show him that I am hungry and want to be doing that every week.
“The lads are buzzing and the attitude is completely different.
"People are happy and chatting away and it is just nice to get those three points.
“It is a massive win and has given the whole club a lift.
"It’s been horrible not winning for the last 11 games but it has given everyone renewed confidence going into tomorrow’s game.
“We have got to keep clawing back the points and another win on Saturday will go a long way to help our recovery.
If you keep losing you get into a rut and think you are never going to win but this is a massive change and we have to build on it.
“I want to be playing every game and performing every week.
"I am sure the manager wants to get a couple of players in January but I want to show him that I can be like a new player for him.
“Going into the new year hopefully it’s a new start for me as well and that I can kick-start my Coventry career.”
