At the bottom, Portsmouth won 2-1 at Crewe and now have 27 points, three behind Hartlepool and Bury who were beaten 2-0 at home by Crawley Town.
Elsewhere, MK Dons drew 1-1 at home to Preston, Notts County beat Carlisle 1-0 and Colchester won 2-0 at Stevenage.
