Cambridge United manager Shaun Derry was delighted with his side's comprehensive 4-0 FA Cup Second Round win against a woeful Coventry City side.
Derry told Cambridge News: “It follows on from the good moments we’ve had over the last few months and we’ve gradually improved and I felt today was a really comprehensive win.
“With the greatest respect to Coventry, we knew they were coming off the back of a tough few weeks and we wanted to impose ourselves both physically and tactically and I felt we got it right today.
“I think it has to be (among the best performances). When you’re playing a team from a higher division the expectation from us as a group of coaches is to be competitive.
“But I’m not too sure any of us had that kind of view that it would be one of those afternoons where everything went so comprehensively our way.
“They’re in a higher division and they’ve got some good players and there were moments of the game where you’re perhaps defending poorly or you’ve not been as ruthless up the other end, but I thought today we defended really well at certain times and we were ruthless.”
“We knew at half time Mark would go in there and try to restructure the team for the second half.
“My message was ‘don’t make it a difficult second half’ and I never felt we did that.”
