Doncaster Rovers, who currently occupy the final League One play-off place, will be a man down for their run-in to the end of the season after Rovers cancelled the contract of Niall Mason.
The defender, who has made 130 appearances for Doncaster and has also played for Aston Villa, admitted a charge of sexual assault back in January.
The 22 year old, was given a six month prison sentence which is suspended for two years by a Judge at Sheffield Crown Court and also placed on the sex offenders' register for seven years.
Doncaster said in a press statement: "Rovers have cancelled the contract of Niall Mason after he withdrew an appeal against his dismissal by the club.
"Rovers opened internal disciplinary proceedings immediately following his guilty plea for a sexual offence at Sheffield Crown Court."
