Said Dowie to Sky Blue World: "We are looking to make the right decisions on the right players and if they are not available then we will take our time because we already have a good squad here who give their all for the club.
"I sat down with Ray at his home and we had a very good discussion for about two-and-a-half hours.
"Clearly he is very ambitious for the club, he wants to do things root and branch from the Academy upwards and that was very positive to hear.
He added: "He's been a top class player himself so he knows what football is about and he also knows the benefits of having a modern approach to the game because he is heavily involved with the ProZone system we use.
"I think we will have another few discussions over the new next few days and that relationship will build."
