Dowie Getting The Spirit Right

Since their appointment, Iain Dowie and Tim Flowers main role has been to life the spirits of the players and get them playing as a unit. It is a role which any employer will tell you is vital in getting the best out of your staff and the City boss has certainly come up with the goods on this score.

Having met Iain Dowie during his managerial postings at Oldham and Palace and numerous times since he took over as the manager of Coventry City,Iain is a man who commands respect but puts you at your ease with his approachable and likeable manner. Something that he shares with Tim Flowers and Frankie Bunn.

It is a trait which has got the respect of the players who know they can speak to him if they are unhappy at being left out of the side. Said Dowie to the CT: "I have made myself available to tell people why they are not in the team rather than shutting the door and running away. "With the size of the squad,we will have 35% f the players who will be happy and the rest won't but I will have to deal with that.

"I have made a point of saying that we will work harder with the lads who areo ut of the team this week than the players who are in as they are naturally lifted." .
