Dowie On Shrewsbury

Coventry City manager Iain Dowie was reasonably pleased with the way the City players plated in the 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury last night. "I thought we started very sluggishly but after 15 minutes we got into our stride, passed the ball and controlled the middle part of the game, but then with so many changes late on we started to give the ball away cheaply, so that was disappointing," said Dowie to the CT:

"Two goals were very good and Ellery had an outstanding debut and Stuart Giddings was back in there and that was probably the most crosses we've got in in a long time. "And Gids scoring - a full-back in the box - that is something we've worked on because we feel we didn't get enough goals last year.

"So there were some good things but I expected their legs to be heavy because they had been working tremendously hard and it was nice not to lose. "I felt we should have won the game but there are a lot of positives to take and Andy Marshall did well, which is disappointing because he shouldn't have to!

"We felt we would go on to win but we lacked that possession late on."
