Iain Dowie was not happy with the performance but happy with the win. He said speaking after City's 2-1 win against Ipswich Town.
"Liam Davis did great for the goal and Kev Thornton came on and gave us a bit of composure on the ball, said the City boss speaking to the club website.
"Liam put in a great ball for Dele and he's got great potential. He can run like the wind, he's 6'2" and I think he just needs to find a touch more desire to push it on and believe in himself a bit more.
"Kev played that role in the hole with discipline - he had a great impact on the game and he has got quality, there's no question about that.
"They were both good football goals. I was very pleased with Dele's finish because he worked very hard all day
"I would go as far as saying it's one of our worst performances of the season, but we won the game.
"We played very well against Sheffield United and lost but sometimes you either do or don't get what you deserve and today I think, certainly in the first half, Ipswich deserved to be up.
"Second half we probably deserved to nick it although I'm sure Jim Magilton will have a contrary view.
"It was a better result but I think we were shocking in the first half. We didn't keep the ball, we looked nervous and we didn't pass it well.
Off the back of a game where we outpassed Palace by 320 passes to their 150, we probably did exactly the opposite today.
"We had no composure and did not get on the ball but I thought the second half was a bit better. "
