Speaking to the press Dowie said: "One Swallow Does Not Make A Summer. "We wanted a good start. Barnsley were very competitive in the first half and it is not an easy place to come to. For me,it was a tough game.
"At half time,I wanted us to kick on told them I thought we were too deep and that we needed to up the tempo and move the ball around a bit quicker.
"At 2-1, some of our football was pleasing but I always felt that they could get a goal back. "However,to win away in the first game has to be very pleasing."
