Iain Dowie is resisting calls to trim his squad. Not helped by the take-over which is dragging on, the City boss remains determined to keep his charges.
Dowie Resisting Squad Trimming
Said Dowie to the CT: "We had a discussion a couple of months ago when they wanted a reduction of wages and I resisted that and I will continue to resist it.
"You have to be careful because we have got some good young talent here and the future of the club, I think, is looking quite bright in terms of a core of three or four good young players - maybe even four or five - but we will deal with that as and when and it is not a scenario we really want to think about.
"Everyone is trying to develop and improve young players and that will continue to happen.

"I'm an optimistic type of person but it is taking an inordinate amount of time because every time there is a new group they have to do due diligence which is another three months."
When asked if money were to made available when the transfer window reopens on New Year's Day, would he strike? Dowie replied: "If things did fall into place we are ready to move.
"We are at games all the time and have got a few ideas. One or two people we have targeted have gone elsewhere but there you go, that happens. But that's where we are.
"We just have to deal with it. If and when we get the button then great. If not, then it is just another scenario to over-come."
