Coventry City manager Iain Dowie has said that he wants to get the Sky Blues back in a reserve league for next season. Speaking to supporters representatives last night, Dowie said that it was vital that the reserves got back to play league football.
Dowie Wants Reserves Back In A League
The move not to play in a league came as a cost cutting measure following the FA Premier Reserve League deciding that their league should be for Premier League clubs only. The decision to play friendlies was one born out of costs.
With season ticket holders allowed in free when the reserves played at the Arena or Rugby Town or Nuneaton Borough going a bit further back, paying customers for some games were few and far between and the cost of hiring such a venue plus all the other expenses incurred in playing a match were never met.

If plans for Coventry Sphinx's new stadium project get the go-ahead or the ground is passed suitable to host Midland Alliance matches next season on March 31st, it is possible that the reserves could have an alternative playing venue in Coventry.
