Michael Doyle, who had been told by the previous manager Chris Coleman that his future lay somewhere other than Coventry City, has joined up with the rest of the Sky Blue squad to begin their pre season training.

Doyle, who spent last season on loan at Leeds United, met up with former team mate at both clubs Gary McSheffrey. The two played together before McSheffrey was sold to Birmingham City and again when both players were loaned out to Leeds.

Boothroyd has not ruled out keeping Doyle and no offers have been received for the Irish international midfielder. It had been widely speculated that Doyle would join Leeds, but the Yorkshire club have yet to decide if they want the player.

"We haven't had any offers from anyone yet and if we get any then I will consider them," said Boothroyd to the CT: "but if we don't then he will do the pre season and see where we go from there.

"I know all about him and his reputation, so I know what he is all about and I am open to that, as I am to all the players I haven't worked with before. It's a clean sheet and everyone is on their toes because I think everyone knows that because I am new I am going to treat everyone as I see them."
