Sheffield United boss Micky Adams believes that the signing of Michael Doyle from Coventry City on a free transfer today will bring in competition for places.
The Blades are still to win under Adams who has now brought in four players to try and turn things round.
Speaking to Sheffield United's website, Adams said: "He is a known quantity who has worked for me before. We were in a similar situation when I took over at Coventry and he was a big part in us turning things around, so he will bring experience and competition for places in midfield."
