Coventry City chairman Ken Dulieu has said he would like to strengthen the squad without losing any more of the present players, but that he is having to operate "with one hand tied behind my back."
It is understood that City manager Andy Thorn has two players who he would like to sign, one a striker to replace Marlon King and a midfielder to replace Gunnarsson.
Safe in the knowledge that funding has been secured for the next two seasons Dulieu and Thorn are now able to work toward signing the targeted players.
Mr Dulieu said he would be "wheeling and dealing to get those targets on board while holding onto the side's current assets".
In a statement aimed at quashing persistent speculation that club captain Sammy Clingan is off to Leeds, Dulieu said, "The likes of Sammy Clingan, he insisted, will be going nowhere unless somebody comes in with an “absolutely ridiculous” offer".
