Wasps CEO Nick Eastwood has said that he wants to help Coventry City into the Premier League.

Speaking at this morning's press conference, Mr Eastwood told the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner: “Our business plan is not based on the football club staying here. It helps generate financial strength around the stadium but it’s not fundamental at all.

“In many ways the best answer is we’ve built Coventry City into our business plan but it’s not a huge issue for us.

“We would love them to stay and we’re absolutely committed to making sure it’s a win-win situation. Stinging a ground-share with high rent doesn’t make any sense.

“The best thing we can do is generate the financial resources to invest in their squad to get back into the Championship. What would this be like if we had a Premiership football club and a Premiership rugby club – wouldn’t that be fantastic!

“Why wouldn’t we want to enable that to happen? It’s a long-term vision with both working side by side.

“Obviously we can’t play football and coach the team but what we can do is try to help enable that to happen.”
