Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd described Freddy Eastwood as a 'lovable rogue' after the striker scored twice against Portsmouth.

Speaking to the Sporting Life, Aidy Boothroyd said: "With Portsmouth's position we had to focus on ourselves and make sure we were right and got off to a good start.

"We deserved the victory and it was certainly a hard-fought win. There were still some fantastic players on the team sheet when they brought it through to the dressing room.

"I was very pleased with our new players and with the reinvigorated Freddy Eastwood.

"I help players help themselves, that is what I do. I listen to them, find out what gets them going and work on that.

"Freddy worked very hard at Southend United and got a hatful of goals. He really believed in himself but maybe in recent years he has doubted his qualities.

"He has been playing like a midfielder but his quality is scoring and if works hard and closes down he will do that.

"He is a loveable rogue but will be the first to say that it is a team effort."
