It will come as no surprise to those who have seen him play for City U21's that Lateef Elford-Alliyu will not be offered a new deal when his contract expires in January.
Tony Mowbray brought in the former West Brom youngster and speaking about him to the Coventry Telegraph's Andy Turner, he said: “His time finishes at the end of January and I have already informed Lateef that he won’t be retained.
“He’s been playing for the Under-21s. We have circulated his name to help him find a club.
“Probably through the period he has been here we have signed a few players; Fortune, Cole, Maddison is coming back to fitness and it has probably diluted his chances of us keeping him.
“He has helped the Under-21 team to play football matches really because you can’t have Bassala Sambou playing 18s on a Saturday and 21s every Monday, so Lateeef has come in and done well, scored a few goals and yet i feel that moving this club forward, he’s going to fall just a bit short of where we need to be.
“I wanted to have a look at him, up to speed and training every day and back in professional football to see how fit we could get him.
“I do feel he’s probably fallen just a bit short.”
