Coventry City manager Iain Dowie had indicated that the transfer embargo could soon be lifted.

The transfer window reopens on January 1st for one month but City are under an embargo after failing to make a £300,000 payment to Southampton for Leon Best.

Said Iain Dowie, who had to travel to Cheshire to meet Ray Ranson, to the CT: "I believe it will be sorted before the transfer window opens. "Ray's aware of it and when they've spent that much money taking over the club, I don't think they are going to worry about £300,000.

Any money I do get will be money spent prudently"
