Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has brought in two experienced foreign players, one Brazilian and one German, who will then have a trial with a view to signing permanent deals with the club.
Neither players have been named, but the Brazilian is an experienced striker and the German is a midfielder.
The Sky Blues have badly needed an experienced striker who can score goals ever since they lost the services of Marlon King.
The Brazilian is said to be a big centre forward and is expected to join up with the squad later today for a training session at the Ryton training ground.
He will be joined by a German attacking midfielder who apparently likes to play wide.
It is also understood that Thorn has been tracking another striker and he is close to joining the club.
The Brazilian and German players will join up with the two French players, Malaga and Edjenguele and the two loan players Reece Brown from Manchester United and Callum Ball from Derby.
If the two unnamed trialists do join the club, that will be a total of nine new players signed since the transfer embargo was lifted last month. If the other striker joins then that will boost the total to ten. All players signed so far have been free transfers or loans.
This week's training sessions will be crowed affairs with the new players and trialists joining McDonald, Deegan and Cameron, who have all returned from injury or in the case of Deegan a ban.
Suddenly Thorn has a big squad of players to train and one that ought to be capable of considerable potential as the Sky Blues mount a challenge to return to the Championship.
An excited Thorn told the CT's Andy Turner: “We’ve got a couple of boys coming in on trial who we are really excited about. We’ll get them in and have a good look at them but we’ve done our homework and hopefully they will fit in with what we want.
“The two loan players will also be in, along with Cody and Deegs, which is great because all of a sudden we have got a few more options and lots of competition. We have got all the base fitness work done up in Scotland and we can start working on our shape now with four weeks to go to the new season.”
