Coventry City defender Stephen Wright has said that the FA Cup has not lost its magic.

Wright picked up an FA Cup Winners medal during his time with Liverpool and told the CT: "I was a squad player and I'd love the chance to win it with another club.

"The Cup hasn't lost its appeal - even today every kid wants to play in an FA Cup final - and though you might not go all the way, it gives you the chance to play the top teams.

"We've beaten Premier League teams in the last couple of years and this is a great opportunity for us to make some headlines again because all the pressure will be on them. There's a lot of confidence in our squad now. It's been a different place in the last two or three weeks because of those wins - everybody is really upbeat.

"The Cup can be a hindrance - we all know what happened after the Chelsea game last season - but we can learn from that and it would be a great feeling to get a result on Saturday.

"Portsmouth are a funny side - I saw them against Liverpool when they worked so hard and got their reward but they never turned up for the first half against Arsenal on Wednesday.

"They will have to change their side because they've got four or five players going to the African Nations Cup but that could make it more difficult because the players who come in will want to stake their claim.

"It will be a tough game but if we can work hard and keep it tight until half-time the crowd will perhaps get on to their backs."
