The Football Association will operate an expedited appeals process for any red cards given during Boxing Day fixtures down to Conference National level.
With most clubs playing two matches today and Sunday, the FA have announced that clubs querying a dismissal have until 1pm on Saturday 27 December to lodge their appeal with The FA, and must submit all evidence by 5pm on the same day.
At 6pm that evening an independent panel, including former professional players, will convene to assess the evidence.
The clubs will then be immediately informed as to the decision and whether sanctions will be lifted or extended.
Mark Ives, head of judicial services at The FA said: “Our intention is that at all times during the year that applications for wrongful dismissals are processed ahead of the next round of fixtures.
“This gives surety to managers and supporters of any clubs involved and also makes the process clean while maintaining sporting integrity.
"The same principle will apply for fixtures played between New Year’s Day and FA Cup Third Round weekend.”
