As the Sky Blues season of discontent rumbles on, it is emerging, by reading social media sites and forums, that a number of boycotts aimed at starving the club's current owners SISU of cash are being planned by some sections of the Coventry City support.
Boycotts of things like the club shops in the run up to Christmas, not buying the matchday programme or food and drink on the Ricoh Arena concourses or even not going to a particular game are all well and good but only if all the support joins in.
Gone are the days where football was a way of life for many, our grounds and this has been highly noticeable since we moved to the Ricoh Arena, are becoming more of a venue for a leisure experience and a poll on this site recently produced the results that City supporters are less interested in the club than they were five years ago.
Apathy has dogged Coventry for years and as long as there is still a team on the pitch, many couldn't care less who the owners are.
As for SISU themselves, any boycotts are unlikely to affect them and people not spending money at CCFC just means less staff either shop staff or stewards etc are required.
If they were to be hit by any such boycotting then they would just look to off-load another player for cash in the January transfer window to claw back any lost income.
Years of watching Coventry City has taught us any planned boycott is unlikely to win the whole-hearted support of every City fan and until there is an effective campaign that fires the imagination of every City supporter, which is thought about in detail, properly planned and properly led, then the divide and rule that SISU and the Board currently have will continue.
